On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Jarett Brantley, a ninth-grader attending John R. Buchtel CLC, was among the OH Regional 2019 TECHCORPShack coding event winners. The winners were recognized at a ceremony held at The Ohio State Capital in Columbus, Ohio.
Jarett and his teammates received recognition for winning the November15-16, 2019, TECHCORPShack coding event which was held at The University of Akron and sponsored by AT&T. He was a member of the Buzzer Beaters team that created and developed a computer application to solve real-world issues. This application was created to collect ad revenue which would be donated to a charitable cause. Users of the application would collect smiles for their charity by reading the news.
All winners received letters of recognition from their respective representatives and senators. Jarett received special recognition from Representative Emilia Strong Sykes of House District 34 and a Senatorial Citation from State Senator Vernon Sykes of District 28.
A special thank-you goes to Senator Vernon Sykes for inviting the TECHCORPShack winners and their families to the State Capital; and congratulations to Jarett Brantley -- keep up the good work!
