Crouse Community Learning Center’s kindergarten, first and second-grade classes were the first to see and experience the restorations and renovations of the 1830’s structure that was once home to abolitionist and Akronite John Brown on Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
May 9 is also Brown’s 219th birthday! To celebrate student took a tour of his home, and learned about how his actions as an abolitionist helped freedom seekers to escape using the Underground Railroad. Students will also learned of his work as Shepherd of the Perkin’s family sheep farm where they enjoyed a herding demonstration complete with border collies by their music therapist, Edie Hardin-Steiner! Ms. Adams, Crouse's Guidance Counselor, also demonstrated a show riding her horses. Please check out all of the pictures below!
