Principal's Message

Oct 31, 2022

Dear Crouse Family,
Thank you for your hard work this first marking period!  The school year is flying by so fast.  I am thankful that we are on the other side of the COVID Pandemic!  The last two years have only made us stronger and brought us closer together…

This school year has brought about a few exciting changes!  We now have Full Site Akron After School, which means that after the first hour of academics our students now are able to participate in enrichment activities.  While the space is limited to 12 students per grade level, this is an exciting opportunity for our scholars.

I am thrilled as we continue our journey of implementation of the school-wide process.   This year our Wildly Important Goals (WIGS) will focus on academics, at least 18 iReady lessons passed with a 75% passage rate for both Reading & Math.  Our school-wide WIG for lessons passed is 26,000 for Reading and 26,000 for Math!  Our second Wildly Important Goal will be an attendance goal of 93%  attendance rate school-wide.  This is one of our highest priorities, to which we monitor very closely. Our attendance rate this past week (24th-28th) was 87.57%.

Student leadership is also a focus for us.  Our school-wide Student Leadership Roles have grown to more than just Student Ambassadors. Students completed applications to perform special leadership jobs within the school. Crouse has students as Town Hall Meeting Executives, Leader of the Month Executives, Public Speaking Specialists, Media Assistants, as well as a School Photographer and Graphic Design Specialist.

This month our habit is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. Beginning with the end in mind means that we take time to define outcomes before we act. We can make choices that shape our future, rather than leaving it up to other people or circumstances.  Habit 2 aligns with the principles of vision, commitment and purpose.  Our end in mind here at Crouse is to provide our scholars with the tools both academically and emotionally to be able to navigate life with strong habits of mind and to successfully pursue any career they choose.  The sky will be their limit!

As I close, and as we move into the season of giving thanks, I would like to share with you how thankful I am to be able to serve you and your children.
