Principal's Message

Wow this school year is going by so quickly, it will be March 1st tomorrow!

February was jammed packed with history and celebrations.  Each day this month student guest readers shared bios of notable African Americans from the past and those who continue to carry the torch forward today during our morning announcements.  We celebrated trail blazers such as Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams; to famous activists, Carter G. Woodson and Lebron James.

A very special young local published author visited our school, Kamille Smith - Author of Girls Fall Down Sometimes. Kamille, who is only ten years old, read to our girls in grades 2nd - 5th in our cafeteria.  The rest of the school was able to watch her live via closed circuit television.  Every female student in the school was able to take a copy of the book home with them.  There were Black History door contests, bingo and a coloring contest. Read more about this special visit in the news article titled "Author Kamille Smith visits Crouse CLC".

As we move into the month of March-April our focus will shift to state testing for our grades 3rd - 5th.

Families, we will need support from you to make this a successful testing season.

Support such as:

  • Attendance - Please make sure your child is here and on time each day (school starts at 7:50)

  • iReady - If your child is assigned homework in iReady please make sure they are completing their work

Goals: 45 minutes to an hour in both reading and math each week

Pass at least  2 to 3 lessons each week at a passage rate of 75% or higher.

Note: If you have a computer at home and your child does not bring home their Chromebooks, they can still log into the APS portal and access iReady.

Working together will ensure that every student is successful!
